Here are some practical ways to stand out compared to other applicants when you're pitching yourself to a recruiter:

1/ Show off how unique you are

There’s only one person who thinks like you, solves problems like you, and has your unique skill set: It’s you. 

‍

So let's say you're applying for a marketing manager role.

Sure, there are tons of marketing managers out there, but only one that thinks like you.

So highlight that and you'll stand out. 

‍

Here's a template you can use:

"During my time at [Company Name], I had the unique opportunity to [describe what you did and why it was unconventional]. This experience taught me [what you learned], and I was able to help the company [described results you were able to bring to the company]"

2/ Highlight transferable skills

Sure, you might not meet all the qualifications for the job compared to the more qualified applicants.

But this doesn’t mean you should give up!

This is where transferable skills come in.

Transferable skills are skills you've demonstrated that are similar to the skills required for the job and can be carried into the role you're trying to get into. 

‍

These are great to highlight because employers often look for out-of-the-box thinkers, so highlighting transferable skills can demonstrate your unique perspective!
