It's Jonathan from Wonsulting, back with more career tips for you this July 4th. Today, let's focus on your resume. Yes, that one-page wonder that can make or break your job prospects.
But before going into that, I know many of you still need help on your job search. If that’s you, you know what to do: Click here
Let’s dive in…
Ever used words like "helped", "assisted", or "worked" on your resume? These might sound okay, but they're actually some of the weakest words you can use.
Why?
Because they don't convey impact. They don't show what you did.
They’re WEAK (As weak as me when I see Fried Chicken and Mac N Cheese!)
Let's change that.
Replace these lackluster verbs with power words like "analyzed", "constructed", "designed", "evaluated", or "fabricated". Here’s how…
💡Instead of "Helped assistants on project for clients", try:
"Collaborated with 5+ assistants on customer success strategy, upselling clients by 13%."
💡Instead of "Assisted analysts on growing company", how about:
"Managed metrics from Tableau with 5+ analysts, boosting company website traffic by 5,000+ views."
💡And instead of "Worked on social media channels to improve follower count", consider:
"Gathered insights using analytical tools, improving Instagram follower count by 23% monthly for 3+ senior managers."
See the difference? It's remarkable how a few choice words can elevate your resume. We have ResumAI that can help you make those bullets as well, which is free to start!
Don't underestimate the power of language, and remember, your resume is your story. Make it a compelling one.
What do you think of these transformations? Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Much love,
Jonathan Javier
