What’s your perfect summer look like?
Sunscreen and mini-coolers? AC and hoodies? Searching for jobs until your neck hurts? 🧑💻
Okay, not the last one 😅
That’s why we’ve got a new job search strategy for you:
Just stop applying to jobs. It’s the best way to get hired 👀
But before we explain how we haven’t gone completely mad, this week we’re also sharing:
🏆 how Vineeta became a data analyst
😄 life lessons from Katie, our Sr. Marketing Manager
🏗️ industry insights into the manufacturing industry
Now why should you stop ONLY applying to jobs?
Let's say you want to be a Product Analyst at Facebook.
The role will most likely have:
well over 2,000 applications
50 people who get referred for the job
25 people recommended by the hiring team
2 people recommended by the actual hiring manager
Now put yourself in the recruiter's shoes:
Which resumes would you look at first?
The 2,000 or the 2 where people were recommended by the actual hiring manager?
That’s the power of building your network!
A well balanced job search involves some applying, but it definitely needs high level networking, too.
So get out there this summer and don’t apply to jobs 😂
And of course, if you want to build your network, we can help. Just use this revolutionary job search tool 👀
We're shining this week’s spotlight on a special member of our Wonsulting community - Vineeta!
We helped her become an SQL Data Analyst at Collabera.
For Vineeta, an important part of her journey was a personalized networking strategy that we developed together. She found this crucial for building stronger connections on LinkedIn, which helped widen her professional network and open up new opportunities.
And after she updated her resume, Vineeta noticed a significant increase in the attention her applications received.
But what was one of the CRAZIEST tips she used during her interviews (which I BET you don't know about)?
She was able to get all the questions before her interview.
How? All she did was send an email to the recruiter asking for interview prep questions. And BAM! The recruiter gave them all to her.
Great idea right?
This week’s Life at Wonsulting section features Katie, our tenacious Senior Marketing Manager. Despite coming from a non-traditional background, Katie’s drive for personal growth is truly inspiring.
Katie's journey took her from stamp carving to spearheading marketing at Wonsulting.
Life sent several hurdles her way: from divorce, to financial strife, and health concerns, but she used them as fuel and refused to buckle under pressure. She dove into self-guided marketing studies and used online resources and hands-on experience.
Through her journey, she discovered three pillars of success: embracing unpredictability, continuous learning, and the power of resilience.
Katie's story underlines that with unyielding determination and action, success is within reach, no matter the starting point!
Ever thought about stepping into the world of manufacturing?
It's not just about the assembly line anymore!
So here are a few reasons why you might want to consider a career in this dynamic industry:
1. Keep Up with Technological Advancements: In today's fourth industrial revolution, manufacturing is experiencing a technology makeover with AI, automation, digital twins, and IoT. By engaging with these technologies, you'd be at the forefront of this transformation, learning, and innovating as you go.
2. Become a Problem Solver: The global landscape is continually shifting - pandemics, geopolitical change, and climate variations all impact supply chains. If you enjoy problem-solving and managing risk, there's a role for you in helping manufacturing companies navigate these challenges.
3. Contribute to Sustainability: More than ever, manufacturing companies are focusing on sustainable practices and renewable energy. If you're passionate about environmental responsibility, there's an opportunity to make a real impact in this industry.
4. Be Part of the Change: The trend toward localized production is revolutionizing the way we manufacture and distribute goods. This shift means the industry needs adaptable individuals who understand decentralized and additive manufacturing methods like 3D printing.
If these reasons resonate with you, consider exploring opportunities in the manufacturing sector. You'll be entering an industry brimming with potential to make meaningful contributions, and as a bonus, competitive salaries await.
