Comment on the event or venue: "Hi! I couldn't help but notice the impressive turnout at this event. Have you attended it before? What motivated you to be here today?"

‍

Find common ground: "Hello! I noticed your nametag mentioned [common interest or affiliation]. I’m super interested in [same or related topics]. How do you think [specific aspect] influences our field?"

‍

Seek advice or expertise: "Hello! I'm pretty new to the industry and I really value insights from seasoned professionals like yourself. Based on your experience, what would be the most valuable advice you could offer to someone starting out in this field?"

‍

Now that you’ve broken the ice, dive into a conversation, and remember: If you’re at an event, people are generally there to network, so they’ll appreciate the opportunity to connect!
