It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
Your professional connections can make all the difference in your job search.
But what if you don’t have a strong international network? 🤔
Luckily for you, making new connections online shouldn’t take you more than 1 hour a week 🙌
Kickstart your network from abroad by following these 5 tips:
Social media is meant to be used to be social and encourage interaction. That’s why you should comment on posts that you find interesting, then send an invite to the author saying something like this:
"Hi (NAME), I recently came across your post about (XZY) which I commented on earlier today. I love the insight because (Why you loved the post). I'd love to stay connected and hear more about your journey to (XYZ)."
Found a job that you love on LinkedIn? If you match 80% of the preferred qualifications, send the recruiter a personalized invite like this:
"Hi (NAME), I saw you recently posted about (XYZ) role at (company) and applied to the role. My experience/skills in (MENTION RELEVANT EXPERIENCE/SKILLS HERE) would be a great fit for this position. I'd love to connect and discuss!"
To make this even easier, use NetworkAI to generate personalized messages for you like this one.
If you find someone who is a 2nd or 3rd connection to you, send them an invite and mention your mutual connection.
"Hi (NAME), I saw we had a mutual connection with (NAME), who's a good friend of mine from (HOW THEY'RE A GOOD FRIEND). I'd love to connect and stay in touch with you!"
When you see someone on LinkedIn that has a similar background to you, bring it up in your connection message.
"Hi (NAME), I saw we come from a similar background in (MENTION SAME BACKGROUND). (TELL A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STORY AND HOW IT RELATES TO THE PERSON). I'd love to connect with a fellow (SAME BACKGROUND)!"

The Wonsulting Marketing team achieved amazing results in the first half of the year.
You know what that means?
A fun game of Family Feud where we went head-to-head to guess the quirkiest opinions and rack up points.
Here’s what we learned about each other:
Top Answer on the Board! 🏆
Our Junior Copywriter, Stefanie, is a Feud game SAVANT and almost every one of her answers were on the board.
That’s a Strike! ❌
Jonathan, our CEO, got picked on for getting strikes but his team spirit was invaluable.
Good Answer, Good Answer! 👏
Our Social Media Coordinator, Cindy, was the BEST cheerleader and always encouraged her team when at the podium.
As an international remote company, we love looking back at our growth and celebrating our wins with fun team-building activities 🎉
Is it you versus the robots? 🤖
With AI taking the world by storm, LinkedIn did a study to gain insights on how AI is shaping the workforce.
Here’s what they found out:
Around 50% of those surveyed wanted to learn tech skills in AI, cloud computing, data analysis, blockchain, Web 3, creator economy, or VR/AR.
35% of Millennials and 29% of Gen Z are more likely to learn AI and machine learning skills, compared to 26% of the wider workforce.
38% of these groups are interested in data analysis skills, compared to 25% of the total workforce. Whereas Baby Boomers are less convinced about the impact of AI.
*The data is based on an online survey of over 3,000 professionals, conducted between March and June 2023, weighted by engagement level, and only includes those active in the workforce.
But how is this relevant to you?
The Internet reaches far and wide which means AI is not only limited to North America. If you have dreams of working in AI, machine learning, cloud computing, data analysis, blockchain, Web3, and virtual/augmented reality consider countries like Germany, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong.
Skills like problem solving, teamwork, and time management will always be relevant in the workplace. Highlight these skills in your resume and mention them in your interviews too.
AI is being embraced worldwide, not just in North America. If you're looking for opportunities abroad, research which industries in your desired countries are adopting AI. Adjust your skills accordingly to match. This approach will help you pinpoint suitable roles and companies.
