Here’s how to bounce back after a layoff (Free Resume Example Included)

Getting affected by layoffs, especially before the holidays, is the worst 😔

‍

An example of a company that did this was Spotify - they conducted their third around of layoffs which affected 17% of their employees right before the Holiday season.

‍

‍

Now, it’s normal to take a couple of days and step back to reflect on what happened, but know this: the layoff is not because of you and was most likely out of control, so don’t let it diminish your self-worth.

Next, what I’d recommend is doing two things:

1) Do Boolean Searches on LinkedIn to Find Hiring Managers from Layoff Posts

‍

Go on LinkedIn and search Layoffs + Hiring + Function you’re interested in.

‍

In this example below, I use “Layoffs hiring marketing” as my search, and then filter to posts + past week.

‍

‍

And would you check that out - now you have 2 hiring managers who are in C-Suite level who are actively recruiting AND are even asking for you to reach out.

‍

Send them a message just like below using NetworkAI by Wonsulting inquiring about the role they’re hiring for and showcasing your experiences/skills.

‍

2) Create a LinkedIn Post with Keywords

‍

If you go this route, be sure to do the following in your post.

‍

First, make sure you talk about briefly what happened (Should be 1-2 sentences).

Then, talk about how you remain optimistic and what are next steps you’re taking.

And lastly, share what roles you’re interested in going to for your next role.

‍

As seen above, Shawn shares an example of how he was affected by layoffs, but although this happened, he’s looking forward to his next role.

‍

And because he did this, his post most likely got around 5,000 views, which can potentially turn into leads for him that are hiring for roles.

‍

Try these strategies out and hope they help you get back on your feet.
